Why would it be an import? - BMW never made an F81 M3 Touring for any market.

It's a heavily modified 3 series Touring, using M3 parts - Nothing more, nothing less.

Interesting. But, I can’t imagine it would be a wise place to put the thick end of £70k.

Amazing attention to detail though - for a replica, I can’t see any M parts missing. Even specific buttons & paddles etc are in place.

It’s a very hard thing to value, and at the end of the day it’s still a 320d that has been modded in a shed

I’d enjoy looking at it, but I wouldn’t want to put my money into it

That’s exactly what I meant. Hate to say it, but it’s also a dull colour for an M car.

Hopefully there aren't any parts on it that come from stolen and butchered cars (like mine).

It was on Mat Watson's Carwow drag racing channel, the owner said it cost £50k to build.

Seems too much money for something that is not an official product, but maybe a well off M nut might go for it. Think I'd rather have a brand new Alpina b3 touring for the same money.

What would show on the log book or when last 7 digits of VIN go into realoem... its still a 320d.

The value of something like that is always going to be less than the sum of the parts

I’d certainly want to see proper receipts and provenance for every part

A [i]"replica"[//i] of what though? - BMW Never made an F81 M3 Touring.

I don't think it's even unique, as a quick Google indicates others have also made their own F81 "M3" Touring's (I suppose it could be classified as a replica of those cars - Depends who built their car first)

Rumour has it BMW are weighing up introducing their first ever M3 Touring in 2022 - Makes sense as the M3 is now pretty much the size of the old E60 M5, and they happily made M5 Touring's.

Wrong colour and Nick still owns that one.

It's a nice looking car, looks well done. Bit odd that the dealer makes zero mention of what it is and when asked a while back claimed it was a standard & unmodified M3 estate. I won't comment on the price it's up for but to get the best price for it there needs to be a little more effort in providing some provenance, build info, back story and history etc.

It's not a rumour they announced the G81 some time ago.

Here is one of the development cars:

Fair point. Replica was the wrong choice of word on my part. I’m sure you know what I meant though...

TBH, I did think to myself: "What exactly could you call it, to be accurate?"scratchchin

It's not really a "replica", because it doesn't really replicate another car.

It's not a "concept car" because it's not been made to promote a concept.

It's not really a "show car", because it's obviously more than that.

A "modified car" seems closest, but somehow seems to underplay the amount of work and quality that appears to have gone into it.

It's kind of a: "car that should've been!"

Hope my being pedantic didn't cause any offence - It was as much a statement/question to myself as anyone else smile
