I have used Autogylm for soft top cleaning and water proofing in the past. Any other options or precautions to consider? Or just treat like any other soft top? Also found a couple areas of slight rubbing can anything be done?

There are many different options when it comes to soft top protection. Have a look at somewhere like elite car car and you won’t go far wrong. As for rubbing marks, chances are, nothing can be done about them.

Hi l have used Renovo on my 07 roadster it was ok for cleaning soft top but unfortunately did not help with rubbing marks as the soft top material surface wears at a different rate at those points. Other possible maintenance on an older roof like mine would be to keep an eye on the roof liner when you raise and lower the roof, as the liner is folded by string which can snap occasionally and is a right pain to replace.

I have been using “303 convertible top cleaner” followed by “303 Marine Guard” for more than 6 years. Very good results. Water just beads off the canvas. Each application lasts about a year. YMMV.

I've just bought some Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric v2 to help the water etc to run off more easily as well. Should reduce staining too I hope. Hood is clean already though.

Anyone used it before? I've not put it on yet.

Thanks

Have you bought the antibacterial one or the normal one?

Nope, the normal version is best for soft top roof as the anti vac version can leave some residue.

Make sure the roof is clean and allow at least a day or two for the roof to dry after you wash it. Spray the roof with the smart fabric, rub it in with a rubber glove on your hand and wipe off the excess as quick as you can with a cloth. You will likely get runs, so just wipe it off as soon as you see them. The residue in the glass can be cleaned off with glass cleaner. Try and stay away from the roof though, unless you have a short pile black microfibre

I’ve always used clear Fabsil on soft tops. Clean well first then apply, works well at a sensible price. Annual treatment as car gets older preserves roof very well.

Can anyone talk to one being better than another through using various? I used to use the autoglym on the wife's mini, and it seemed to reenergize it for a while, but it was left outside so didn't keep it looking good for too long. So far with the Aston I've just avoided the issue, by putting up a carport and only taking it out in the dry. And avoiding washing it too much as well, just giving it a brush down every now and then

Yup used Fabsil Gold on all of our convertibles over the years. Naiol brush & miltons solution for cleaning.
