Evening all.
I posted a few weeks ago about my quest to replace my E220 AMG Line that went back yesterday.
I want a sports saloon, to £20k, and nearly went 'sensible' with a Passat 2.0 TDi SE-L DSG 19 plate.
However, I REALLY want a Jaguar, and would regret not getting one if I got something else.
Am I being stupid? Approx 20-25k pa, but work from home 2 days a week, so I do some long trips when I'm on the road.
I would prefer an XF, and have a dealer at £20k for a 17k mile 68 plate R-Sport Black Edition which I really like. He is asking £20.5k, I've offered £19.5k.
Or, I can get XE R-Sport on 19 plate for around £1k less, with a few 1000 miles less.
Advise me dear forum.

You say you want a Sports Saloon, are you talking about a petrol?
Depreciation will be your biggest issue adding 75k to anything over three years won't help any cars resale but at the same time get the best 3.0d XF you can find & you'll be in a nice place to spend 75k.
Definitely will be a diesel, and I appreciate the depreciation will be my biggest cost, but my logic is that my car allowance will pay for the car in approx 42 months, so it will owe me nothing. Maintenance won't be much more than a Passat if I go indie servicing after warranty end will it?

Having had many Mercs and sitting in a mates XE, the jag felt a step down, he thought so too. The model range is quite dated, not sure jlr will be able to afford a new model anytime soon. The Merc felt a lot more polished.
I get this, but it's heart over head really pushing me to Jaguar.WAVman said:

Then get the right XF:https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202012026...

I'm wavering now, I really can't make a decision on this.
I don't need a 3.0d, 2.0d will be fine, I would rather have as new plate as possible tbh giving me some manufacturer warranty.
Maybe I'll just get a C-Class, there are loads of 19 plate 220d Sport Auto's just come to market at £19.5 - £20k.

Go for the Jag just because you may have to hunt but it'll be more satisfying to get the car you want:
