Porous Cylinder Head

Has anyone had any experience of a "Porous" cylinder head on a 5 Litre engine?

yes i had that on my 97 5l. the car had done 40000 miles at the time and was 3 years old. i had a conversation with the factory and they repaired it at TVR Power free of charge. I was well impressed. Talk to Dom at TVR Power 02476366177 and he will be able to fill you in.

Thanks Graham, unfortunately a lot of water has passed under the bridge (and through my cylinder head!) since your experience.I doubt if there will be any goodwill from the factory on a 7 year old car,even though there is only 21K on the clock.

Looking at your profile, i take it you are the chap at Dilston Castle on Sunday who was discussing your pourus head with the rest of use NETVRCC lot.

Have you seen this older thread about a similar problem, and issues over replacement or repair?

That was me, Thanks for the thread I had seen it on the night mine started to act itself.Phoned HHC yesterday and the head has gone off to be checked out.

P.S Thought your car looked well on the road I was in the Cougar you followed down as far as the Metro centre.

So far only evidence of one, but there is nothing to say that the other one could also be faulted.Very disappointed as engine has only done 21K.

I'd suggest you take them off and see what the problem really is before you commit to buying replacements. It doesn't seem particularly likely that both heads are faulty, and it might be something else altogether.
