Live8 VIP Area

Was it just me or did the Live8 organisers do the VIP area (£600 a ticket and a huge area at the front for not a lot of people) to show what it must be like for Africans looking at us?
The proles from the text vote kept at least 100 yards from the stage behind a fence by "security" whilst the rich nobs had a huge area which was sparsely populated in front of the stage.
The whole idea of the VIP area is utterly abhorrent IMHO.
