I s'pose it's a kind of gadget.

Does anybody know of a Dymo-type label printer that will print adhesive strip type labels with white lettering on clear background?

Fairly sure you can get the TZ tape in clear..

I find the Brother printers better than Dymo and you can get them with a full qwerty keyboard too.

Either a Brother P-Touch or a Casio printer can take Black on Clear tapes:

It's the razor blade principle though, give them the printer & make the money on the tapes. I've never bothered to look for a compatible non-OEM tape as I don't print very much.

Thanks, I'll look into those (noting that I'm looking for white lettering not black).

I'm not averse to Brother, I just bought a Brother laser printer and I'm pretty happy with it.

Dymo make the white on clear tape.

Is this something for occasional use or more often?

There’s a big difference in the features of low end and higher end machines such as the types and width of tape that they will take or if you need the tougher industrial grade tape.

Depending upon what you want it for the better ones can save labels if it is going to be a regular thing you will want to print or offer the option to use a pc to create the labels

Slightly O/T but great to see there are non-genuine tapes available for the Brother, thanks for the links. I bought one from a car-boot sale years ago "because it might be handy", thinking I'd stick some batteries in it and use up whatever tape was still in there, but after that I'd probably stop because of the cost of genuine tapes.
