Thorney has posted another good video with regards to the undertrays being removed for allowing greater inspection during services.

Out of curiosity, the 675 has a broken spring...is that covered by the Thorney warranty or is that deemed as fair wear and tare?

On my last service, the same nearside rear spring was discovered as also snapped and was replaced under warranty; for those that don't know it has to be the full damper unit Inc spring to be replaced and its around £3.5-4k for parts and labour.

They also replaced all the drop links and bushes at the same time as the were deemed as 'worn'.

The Thorney warranty is cheaper but I have no idea how it compares to the McLaren one and that seemed a relevant place to start.

Anyone had any experience of a broken spring with a Thorney warranty and can advise?

Nobody have a Thorney warranty that can comment?

There is no point in the Thorney warranty getting recommended by lots on here unless people can back it up with 1st hand experience of whats covered and what's not.

I have made plenty posts about my experiences with the McLaren warranty so others can see what they are paying for...be nice to have a comparison.

I like Thorney, his videos are good, his enthusiasm for the brand is great and I hope he continues and wish him all the best, however the way I see it in simple terms is a mclaren dealer for example it’s in their interest to find issues with your car, fight your corner on claims etc as they make a profit by billing mac HQ or the warranty company direct, Thorney however every claim made they essentially take a cut in profits.
Are Thorneys warranty’s good, worth having, a positive when selling then absolutely yes, but I think having a mac warranty will still be more sought after regardless of cost.

I know it’s more complicated than that really, and I’m not bashing them I really do believe the brand needs indy’s around the country especially as cars get older.

Agree.

I am in now way having a go at Thorney either.

We are both up here so its largely irrelevant to us...we currently have Glasgow or nowt.

There is differance of around £1000 between the warranty prices at 3-5 years.

I asked about a relevant item as its in the video, I have had the same broken spring, pistonguy had one and likewise with sarnie, and these are only guys that have posted here; it seems in no way an uncommon occurrence.

If its covered in the Thorney warranty, great, if not its £3.5k over and above the warranty cost and saving £1000 on initial cost would seem pointless.

I cannot recall anyone posting on here about whats included in the Thorney warranty compared to the McLaren one and I hoped this would be a relevant place to hopefully start.

I’d suggest the McLaren dealers are more likely to get discretionary manufacturer support for component failure on warranty claims (or parts contributions) unlike a specialist dealer, especially if the car in question has been supplied/maintained by the dealer from new & this is where a manufacturer’s warranty has the greater advantage.

I think the best course of action to know what the Thorney warranty does and doesnt cover is t contact them directly.
