Hi, I'm in need of a laptop for the Mrs who needs something for mainly Uni coursework, web browsing and email.

No doubt kids may snaffle now and then for Roblox / Minecraft fix.

Most important factors are decent boot speed + screen size + robust build, I'm thinking a refurb unit and a budget of £300 max would get something reasonable.

Been nosing around ebay looking at some options but I'm not overly keen to use again having had my fingers burnt before.

Any suggestions for decent refurb resellers or indeed laptops that would fit the above bill?

TIA....

For around £300, I would recommend a Lenovo T450
Dell is also a good shout.

Ebay is a good source.
Lots of Sellers that specialise in ex-Corporate Machines.
Search by distance and find Sellers with a few of the same Model for sale.
Some will even come with a decent warranty.

FWIW I'm using an old Dell E5530 (2012 vintage), upgraded to 16GB memory and a 1TB SSD hard disk and it's as fast as anything I was issued with from work. I can run multiple VMs in VirtualBox etc and I don't think I'm stressing it at all. SSD and memory upgrades are easy and have a huge impact on performance.

eBay? Makes sure they have 10+ for sale, look ex-induatry and have a UK keyboard.

Amazon also sell refurbs, with a returns policy you can rely on.

i5/8GB/256GB SSD is a good basic spec.

We use Lenovo t430's at work (start-up and don't need to be fast) other than replacing batteries they have been rock solid. We also use them to run AV and Lights for events.

We were paying around £200 but they seem to be about the £300 mark now...
