2019 C300d or 2017 E350d?

Hi All,

I have a quandry so please can I have your opinions on the choice between the following two estate cars..

2019 Mercedes C300d, 13k miles, £24990

or

2017 Mercedes E350d, 40k miles, £25000

Both cars are silver and have good spec, I just cant decide. I am leaning slightly towards the 350d purely as the interior is really very nice.

Any opinions or help is gratefully recieved.

Have only been a passenger in the C, cut I'd rather an e. Should retain more of its value as well?

You need to test drive them.

The C300 is a lovely car (I have an S205 C250d 4M) but the E350 is a step up in size, comfort and toys. The size of the E may take some getting used to if you’re coming from something smaller... C is 2 years newer and potentially more warranty?

As ZX10 says, Premium Plus is the way to go if possible, the Burmester stereo alone is worth a good listen.

Yes i agree re. the test drive but I cannot do that until the lockdowns are relaxed, which might not be for some time!

I am coming from an old 2006 VW Jetta so any car is a upgrade on that.

If you think you’ll be comfortable with the size, then go for the E. It’s a class above.

If you would prefer lower running costs ( more MPG, longer warranty, marginally lower servicing costs) then go for the C. It’s a 4cyl vs the 6 in the E so a bit less ‘smooth’ but in 245PS trim not short of poke.

Either way you shouldn’t be disappointed coming from the VW.

With those E Classes I've linked to you'd be able to extend the Mercedes Warranty (at a cost of course) on the Premium you'll get a years warranty from Mercedes.

The E Class is a noticeable step up in comfort and refinement over the C Class - I’ve had 2017 models of both. The E feels much better engineered when you drive it.

The C is surprisingly small in the back if you have have tall people up front.

I’ve never found the size of the E estate an issue - but my car has the 360 camera system and I’d highly recommended it. Merc’s are very manoeuvrable for their size, particularly compared to anything FWD but it’s not easy to tell where the front corners are. The front camera gives a very accurate indication of the turning circle which is incredibly useful. I can get my E Class in and out of tight spots I wouldn’t even attempt in our Focus.
