My crocodile clips wouldn’t extend from negative post to positive on battery. So plugged into socket in passenger footwell. Seems to stay live and has charged battery.

Anyone else use this socket for charging ?

The other alternative is to clip on to positive post and an adjacent point on the body for the earth.

I wasnt aware it stayed live beyond a delayed shut down after removing the key

I’ve used the footwell point in other Porsches successfully. Turn on ignition, connect and turn on charger, tuen off ignition, lock and leave it.

Yes. I use CTEK charger via the passenger footwell on my CGTS 4.0. Works great.

You're not meant to use negative battery post. There is a chassis point to the right of the battery that can be used.

Get the CTEK connector with the M8 eyelets and use an M8 screw to bolt the negative to the empty screw hole by the suspension mount:

You can then run the plug around the plastic frunk cover so you don’t have to remove it each time you want to leave on charge.

ETA: if you do it this way you don’t have to worry about the car shutting down the cigarette lighter socket after 30 minutes which I believe it may do on some.

Also a wee tip cut a small section out of the O ring to form a C that way you do not need to remove the connections just slacken off and slide in .

Agree with the above. The nuts do not fully unscrew easily on Porsche battery leads fo what ever reason and it’s not easy to match the thread IME with another nut if there is enough thread sticking out to take another. Take the easy route, it will save you a lot of faffing about.

Make sure you get the charger turned on via the car , then turn on the unit at the wall. Then lock the car.

Fitted the CTEK system to my Cayman GTS today. The negative cable is a little short for my liking so I extended it. The M8 bolt seems to provide a good earth through the extra threaded hole that Porsche supplies so no need to remove any paint. To my mind this is a far superior solution than using the internal power socket.

I use the power socket in the passenger footwell of my RS which works great, saves messing about connecting to the battery?

I use the passenger footwell socket for my 718T. I use the Ctek StopStart charger and the socket remains live.
