2 cars, family car and weekend car, 25-30k
Discussion
Hi everyone,
So from the title you can tell I'm looking at getting 2 cars. Currently have a 2019 Tiguan but getting very bored of it and wanted a change. Managed to save enough to clear the finance and now I own the car. The OH now wants to start driving again as well. We have a little one so I said having her own car makes it easy for her to go around town while I'm at work. So I wanted a stable family car that we can all use and a smaller car that I can take for some fun driving but it also practical and comfortable for the OH. We have a budget of about 25k for both cars but can stretch this to 30k. If anyone can suggest an SUV that can tick the fun, comfy, low depreciation box for 30k then I'm all ears.
So far the choices for car 1 are:
- VW Tiguan 2016/17 (auto)
- Seat Ateca 2017
- Skoda Karoq 2017
Car needs to have a high clearance because I live on a round that doesn't allow drop kerbs and the kerb is too high.
So far choices for car 2 are:
- Ford Focus ST
- Peugeot 308
- Ford Fiesta ST (might be a bit small)
- VW Polo GT
- Seat Leon
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Just to add I'm looking for a car that is 3+ years old as I don't want the depreciation to be too big.

I'll go with the second car first I'd say the 308 PS GTI is the pick but they're hard to find:

Second choice would be the Focus ST-3 very good fun hot hatch:

If the second car doesn't have to be a five door but able to accommodate four people comfortably then I'd say the Astra GTC VXR is a great car underrated so you'll get a nice one for sensible money & they're a fun steer too:

Thanks for the options there!
Definitely like the look of the focus. Colleague had a Focus ST 2.5 and it was a blast to drive.
I guess the only thing now is to see how quickly I can sell my Tiguan. The Sorrento is a great pick. Really like the added benefit of 7 seats (have needed that a few times recently with extended family). I'll see if I can get a test drive in the cars so I know what it's like.
