Hi Folks,

I have a Pioneer DDJ-800 Controller, which I am having lots of fun with, playing records through, or mixing mp3's from my laptop.
Currently, I just listen via headphones, but when my family are out, I would like to have some speakers smile

I have an old set of 5.1 Mission speakers at home spare, since upgrading my living room speakers. But I would guess these aren't really right for this type of setup. Plus I would need an amp.

I believe I can put active speakers directly into the DDJ-800? Some, I have looked at on ebay, also have bluetooth which would be great. For example "Kam RZ15ABT V3 With Bluetooth 1200W Active PA DJ Speaker". This is way too big in terms of physical size. But I like the idea of having them on pole mounts as I only have a small desk. Also, it seems quite cheap for speakers of this size? I would say roughly 400-500mm max is all I need really, perhaps smaller?

What would you recommend I look at? I know next to nothing about DJ equipment and am not looking to make a career out of it, I just enjoy playing at home and wouldn't ever be looking to take it further.

Not sure what Mission speakers you have but they should be good enough for a bedroom setup.
When I first started out I just used an Sony midi hifi I had which was fine for the bedroom.

If you do want active go for something like these, which should go well with your controller

Dm40 are supposed to be ok. I’m looking at getting some myself or might stretch to some Rokit 3s.

I run my mixer through a regular hifi amp and speakers (b&w) via phono output on the back of the mixer. More than good enough for home use.

Keep an eye out on fb market place. I picked up some M-audio 30 for £30. They’re ok as a stopgap, just not enough midrange for me, so I’ll shift them on and get my money back

Many thanks for the suggestions.

I have ordered some Pioneers for now, they are perfect as they wont take up too much room.

I use a pair of cheap M-Audio speakers myself but they came recomended over the dm40's I had planed to buy.
They are bass heavy little things tbh but sweet for my Fri night wrinkly raver nites in my kitchen.

Just to finalise this post. Thanks again for the advice and recommendations made.

I ordered the Pioneer DJ DM-40BT Bluetooth Studio Monitors. They may provide other uses being bluetooth.
Only just got round to setting them up and I have to say for a smaller speaker, they sound amazing.

My kids are doing home schooling at the moment, so I can't go too mad with them. But I am really looking forward to having a proper play later.

Have a similar setup, with Rokit 6's, simple for use indoors.
