We (nearly) all know that Covid and the measures to control it are a pita. I’m still astounded that other countries in the so called free world have imposed curfews. So far Mrs BC and I have complied with government advice and guidelines but a curfew really would be in infringement of liberty imo.

A curfew is hardly an impairment when prettymuch anything you might want to do at that hour is closed for those of us in Tier 4. Frankly, it doesn't bother me a jot, even less so because it's winter. There's not enough police to enforce it meaningfully anyway, and if you're away from the road they won't bother you anyway.
For all the people moaning I don't think people realise how bad this can all get, and how far from it we will actually remain. Some other countries came down very hard. This country is like a bloody holiday camp at the moment in comparison to many places.
My neighbours are intelligent people but abuse the 'bubble' nonsense because their family is bigger than 2 households - including kids that work in nurseries and healthcare. If intelligent people are behaving like this I dread to think what the heathens are doing, but they all then moan about the restrictions.

Curfews are one of my favourite birds with their ghostly call.
I went to my local "Tier 4" nature reserve today (together with the other 249,999 people in my town all out for New Year walks in open space and we just about managed to social distance) in compliance with all Tier 4 rules and saw 53 Curfews. Bring them on I say.

Amazing. People have fought and died for yours and mine freedom but you’re willing to give it up on the whim of some politicians.We’re hardly ever out after 9pm this time of year with the pubs closed under tier 4. Being told I can’t go out for say a midnight walk, that’s another matter for me.

2) you'd have all day to 'be free' (unless you work shifts)
3) how often do you go out for a midnight walk?
4) if people have legitimate reasons to be out, can still be out.
5) not just a whim of politicians, scientists advise the politicians.
Surely just a minor step from Tier 4 to a curfew as the only difference is don't leave home after a certain time vs don't leave home unless essential. I'm amazed the UK are so compliant in general, at least though the Govt now know how to keep us at home if they ever want to again.

I'm not a fan of any of it tbh; I'd rather we were given facts about the risks and made our own risk based decisions but hey what an "old fart" I must be!
