The great GPU shortage
Discussion
Well, I've timed building a new system well.
I am so out of the loop, are there any retailers that anybody is aware of may be procuring more stock any time soon? Scan, CCL, Amazon I keep checking regularly, Scan is indicating potentially 31st January. I could really use one prior to that, so I am considering used. Everything is just so extortionately priced!

Yes, having built a PC for my daughter over summer it did take a while as the price fluctuations were massive and having to anticipate if the price advertised would fall. I managed to get a sensibly priced GPU etc but being patient was the key. Getting a desk and a suitable office chair was also a challenge due to everyone working from home buying the same stuff.
Unfortunately any that do become available are quickly taken up by bots.
Sites like Overclockers have stopped preorders altogether as they have such a large backlog.
I'm building a system this week and ended up getting a ASUS TUF 3070 from a scalper for £60 over RRP, which seemed like a pretty good deal given the new cards keep going up, and the lack of stock means used 2000-series cards aren't cheap either.

Yeah it is disheartening, to know most are probably sat in peoples spare bedrooms. Especially when seeing 2060s for £270 brand new not too long back! Ugh. Sites like Overclockers have stopped preorders altogether as they have such a large backlog.

Sign up to partalert on Telegram/Discord and put in which cards you want alerts for and then you’ll have to react instantly when the alerts pop up. It helps massively if you have accounts already set up with Scan, Amazon etc.
Nvidia Founders Edition cards are sold by Scan but aren’t visible day to day. They come up every two weeks or so and the partalert site will ping the link in their alerts.

Thank you both for the Discord and Twitter links, I've followed them both and turned on alerts at CCL.
It looks like thanks to TEKNO I will at least have a decent enough card to turn my system on, giving me chance to at least use it for university work while I await a 2xxx/3xxx.
Great result!

Tempted by a 1060/1070/1660 from eBay to tide me over, but even those prices have gone rather silly, even used.
