Hello,

Please can someone advise me in which years did the mk 6 and mk 7 get released here in the UK?

I am trying to work out which of the two is the best car for me and sometimes find it hard to know which mark the car is on the adverts.

Any other tips on buying one of these hot hatches?

Thank you.

They look very different, so telling them apart isn't hard.

Mk7 was 2013.

If you are looking at a photo, the mk6 was the only Golf where the rear lights don't follow the shut line of the boot.

The 7 is to the 6 what the 5 was to the 4.

Get the 7/7.5.

I don't know why, but I never liked the Mk6. What you have posted above definitely reinforces that view!

Yup, my employer used Golfs as pool cars - they lived very hard lives.

The Mk5's were decent.

The Mk6 facelift felt like an accountant had gone over the car and cheapened it everywhere, They fell apart quicker too.
