6 cylinder estate cars

what full size estate cars come with 6 cylinder engines these days?

Up to 8 years old.

I know about the Audi A6, BMW 5 series and Mercedes E-Class.

Are there any others I've missed?

Only interested in the big ones. Got an e-class at the moment and sometimes it isn't big enough!

Just checked and they also did a Volvo V60 with the T6 engine, but given your second post - might be a bit small

I'm pretty resistant to SUVs as I grew up with cars which were normal height and have never wanted blow-up versions of what are really underneath just ordinary hatchbacks.

But changing times force the hand. I said I'd never get a diesel but our Merc is a diesel. Sometimes the odds are so stacked there's nothing you can do.

I think my main issue is that the current Mercedes e-class looks a bit bubbly, has fake exhausts... those sorts of things and the interiors far too often come with that big slab of silver across the dash (BMW 5 series as well!). i.e. not feeling the vibe so wanted to see what else there is and can only see the 3 cars I've listed.

The Volvo V90 looks a bit cool but with a 4-banger diesel it's going to sound like a Massey Ferguson. (cue all the 4-cylinder diesel owners who think theirs sounds fine )

Saw a review of those on Harry's garage. Awesome car, but if it wasn't so expensive the next issue would be the load lugging ability.

There's only 2 of those on Autotrader. One with 110,000 and the other 136,000. They're priced appropriately but it's well past my entry point. 60,000 is about my mileage limit.

I've got a G31 540i. Massive spec, wonderful thing. If you're looking for the ultimate in 6-cylinder load lugging, it's the E class. Provided you don't mind its hearse-like dimensions. Otherwise you'll have to go to the big SUVs like a discovery to trump the E class' boot.

I'm more interested in the 5-series than the e-class.

I hate the 'slab of silver' thing as well, but I think the 5 series with piano black works well.

yes, our current one has black wood trim. I like a bit of rustic wood.

What I really want is dark green exterior, beige leather and 'wood' coloured wood... but there's nothing out there like that. That sort of colour combination seemed to fizzle out at the start of the noughties.

The 5 series is my current favourite. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
