Hi, just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction. Cerb was serviced in October, everything running to perfection. Just failed MOT on brake lights not working. Only thing I can think of is that I travelled home through some truly biblical floods in December- to the extent that water caused a misfire which cleared by the end of the journey in drier conditions. Will obviously check fuse ?25, but any other clues as yo where I should look? Thanks in advance.

Check the bulbs first as that's an easy and clean job, unlikely both have blown but it's possible.
After checking the fuse, check the switch, that's probably where your fault lies.

The brake light switch is fixed to bit of aluminium which easily bends more than likely youve caught it with your foot and moved it. Bend it back, the switch is easy to replace should it be that.

I had the same issue and it was the switch. It's down by the brake pedal, get down on your knees and have a look. Mine just needed re-aligning.

The switch is a Ford Fiesta part easy to get and to swap, it is the most likely culprit.

Cheers again, I have managed to lose the nuts which attach mine and wondered where I should be looking for replacements. thumbup

Actually, I've just had an epiphany...

Originally, when I came to replace the switch, I couldn't find what I thought would be two, plastic, sandwich nuts
BUT
After reading this post, I checked YouTube and found that the later Fiesta Brake Switches were fitted by twisting them through 90° on a non-threaded anchor plate.

I've just been down to check but the hole in the mounting plate is larger than the ribbed diameter of the Switch.

Do you guys know what the set-up is down there as the switch does have a flat face on one side ?

A photo would be fab but "any and all" would be appreciated . thumbup

Very fine thread and very slim nuts IIRC. Don't quote me, Paul, but they may not even be a recognised/readily available thread. Treat yourself to a new switch (ensuring that it comes with new nuts first!)

Thanks Rik,
But I have had such a nightmare with threads the last 6 months I could never imagine being lucky at an autofactors with a phrase as vague as "Ford Fiesta Brake Switch, please".

Thanks for your input though thumbup

For my MOT fail, it was indeed the brake switch, contacts had degraded but have responded to being rubbed back. Thanks guys!
