'Cheap' Jaguar F-Types

So V6 F-Types can be had for around £25k...

Seems like a fair bit of car for the money, I'm assuming they depreciate in line with typical JLR products hence 5-6 year old cars are now around this price.

Would they be a mad proposition, or a decent purchase?

A decent purchase although I wouldn't rule out a Cayman/Boxster, but the Jag is great to drive and then loud and shouty.

I've got my V8 F Type S up for sale at the moment which I've had for 2.5 years and it's been utterly brilliant taking it from 29k to 43k miles. Just not practical enough for us going forward with kids and 4 other cars taking up space!

Not with the 340 output engine.

Better off with the 380S

Great car at this price point...rare too comparatively speaking.

Suits red, pan roof and active exhaust are deemed 'must haves' in the trade.

On a side note I much prefer this original exterior styling to the latest shape.

Seems like the general consensus is the same then.

Probably beyond my budget really - I am looking at Caymans as per the one comments but probably max 20k budget so a nice 987 S or higher mileage 987.2 non-S.

But with a bit more to spend I'd definitely be considering one of these..

If you are seriously considering an F-type or a Cayman then drive the two back to back. Yes they are 'similar' but there are notable differences. The Cayman is a better drive, and don't believe the hype about the engines in the 987.1S being unreliable - it's a problem, but it's a problem that has been talked up considerably.
