Its an auburn boat tail speedster (and yes, it was an original one)

......Royal car. A few years ago I was cruising down the M1 at about 80 mph when this came hammering past, like a tidal wave on the outside lane. No passengers on board, just a uniformed chauffer at the helm. It was like being overtaken by the Bank of England doing 100mph

First saw one of these at the '85 (?'86?) Motor Show, blown away! Not a super car, but a Guigiaro car, almost pure "Asso di Fiori" show car from the '79 T okyo Show. Then the importers went bust, and I bought one for a bargain price from Alan Day, and kept it for twenty years, I liked it so much!

Why are most of you being a smart arse and not saying what the car is?
Is it one of those 'if you're not in the know, I'm not talking to you' situations?
Not being a smart arse, you don't need to know the name of a woman if she makes you weak at the knees. Is it one of those 'if you're not in the know, I'm not talking to you' situations?
Mine is a Pegaso with Saouchick (sp?) Bodywork BTW. But a proper car enthusiast would know that anyway...
One of these.

Was about 1968/9 when I were a very young lad, and we used to visit family friends near Thames Ditton, and one summer we were visiting and walking dogs with friends when I hear this thundering noise like I'd never heard anything like it before......and a few moments later this dark coloured sports car came thundering past - and I was awestruck at the speed and noise of this thing. Dad's friend said, "That's a Cobra, the factory where they make them is just down the road".
Wanted one ever since.....

I was sat being an uber-tourist with MrsC outside the Cafe de Paris some years ago now when I spotted a white Auburn Speedster parked on the other side of the square. I was sad enough to leave her there with her cocktail while I went over and took photos! As I looped back on the walk and went down the highstreet it was parked up outside one of the open fronted wine bars. There was a special display of about 10 Pegaso cars at Autoworld Brussels couple of years ago .
Life in mid 80s Cornwall was not rich with automotive variety, we were the only family on the road with a car, a mini. Other vehicles owned by relatives and friends were morris 1000s and various other bl offerings.
So when a recently divorced father of a boy in my class brought a brand new opel manta gte in white to the school gates on a Friday afternoon I was blown away, long, low with alloy wheels and side skirts, bucket seats.
It was the moment I knew what I wanted. I have indeed got one now, I bought it over 30 years ago and still love it.

1972 as a 14 yr old I was walking through town with a classmate to the bus stop when we came across a brand new Dino parked at the kerb.
It looked like a spaceship among the minis and Cortinas, we peered through the windows to marvel at the 150 mph speedo and bucket seats etc. The huge curved windscreen and lithe bodywork left a lasting impression and acquiring a Dino became my automotive ambition.
Sadly they remained tantalisingly just out of reach for years until their star rose again and took them into lottery win territory.

Probably around 1976 when I was 6, my dad stopped the family VW Beetle in a petrol station in York to fill up. He and I wondered to the showroom window to see what was in there and we were greeted by the most astounding thing I had ever seen - a blue CX with these wheel trims (so must have been a Pallas). It may as well have been beamed down from space. The most astounding sight given what Britain was driving about in back then.
