Tax rebait on tools purchased for work as an employee?
Discussion
Im an employed electrician in the coach-building industry (mostly motorsport trailers), i have been employed by the business since 2019 (prior to this i was self employed).
I tend to purchase my own tools for my job, and am not re-imbursed by the company for them.
Ive just worked out (most are bought on Amazon) i have spent £2006.15 on tools since i have been employed (18 months).
I was just idly wondering if i am able to claim tax back on any of this, like i was able to when i was self employed?
I have found this website after a google: https://www.taxrebates.co.uk/mechanics/
Which seems to suggest this is doable for mechanics, so don't see the difference to a electrician?
It looks like this website will do the paperwork for you, but take 25% for themselves!
So wondering if anyone has any knowledge around this, and is it just a simple form i can fill out myself?
Cheers

I think you need to look at 'other' expenses because the 'tools' bit in the list is for repairing and replacing small tools not buying them.
