My vantage needed servicing when I got it, I went for the basic service as I only drive 900 miles a year.

Do I need a more comprehensive 2nd service and what would be the difference from the 1st service ?

The answer is that you need to consider the age and condition of your car and importantly, what maintenance work has or has not been carried out during recent years. A good 'indi' might be better at tailoring a service plan for low mileage cars than a main dealer, who might simply follow the standard factory service schedule.

The servicing of my own car is now bi-annual. As probably with many of us during 2020, I now see the mileage was only 200.

(Being a new PH Aston Martin owner, please post a photo of your car.)

Sounds good, the car is 13 years old with 31000 miles on the clock.

The previous owner didn't follow any service schedule and I suspect might have SORNed the car for a year or two.

When it was new it was well looked after so I'm just setting a routine for years to come and don't want to miss anything important.

I'm in the north east, can you suggest anyone that can advise me about a 2nd service ?

Cheers.

Have a look at some of the Redpants videos (Google him). If you're relatively handy with a spanner you can do many of the service items yourself without compromising the value of the car. Oil changes any garage can do, but depends on whether you're servicing to maintain the value or just keep the car in good shape.

Also look at the alternative parts sticky at the top of the forum. Some good ways to get "expensive" service items such as cabin and air filters at very good prices.

Cheers Jonny, I'll take a look at Redpants and no I don't even own a spanner frown

You'll be there for ages watching Redpants content, but it's all enjoyable stuff. You should be able to at least do the cabin air filters yourself, assuming you own a screwdriver ?

Beautiful looking car by the way - classic

Agreed, super looking car.

Redpants has a 40 minute video on the regular and not-so regular maintenance items that is actually a good view! Try and find that one first. At least then when you go to an Indie or whatever, you will know that they are talking about! They are straightforward and I do quite a lot on the car myself, it really is pretty straightforward for a lot of stuff.

I will watch that thanks very much, I prefer not to touch these things myself, I know my limitations !

The car is a stunner, I waited 2 years for the right car and spec, they are the next E-type Jag.

Other than servicing it hasn't cost me a penny in 40 months.
