US import - number plate?
Discussion
If I import an old Triumph (say a 1966 Triumph twin) from the US, with a view to restoring and registering it in the UK, what UK number plate can I have? Does DVLA recognise the original year of manufacture and allow an older UK number plate (as I want a black number plate), or do they require that a modern (yellow) plate be fitted?
Many thanks

That's very useful - seems like quite a sensible "age related" policy, and, in the absence of any documents for a foreign bike, DVLA will accept reasonable evidence prior to issuing an age-related number (+ NOVA form for any VAT). Presumably no VAT, given it'll be an old wreck : )http://www.autocycle.org.uk/v765.html
