Does anyone know if you can get a mountain bike (front wheel off) in a golf r estate upright? So 2 maybe 3 side by side rather than laying down on top of each other?
Cheers

Never tried it, but I’d say you’ve got no chance.

It's been a few years since I had a MK7 GTD estate, but memory serves no way. Maybe an older bike with 26" wheels, they seemed to fit in cars better.

No chance sadly, picture below with 4 225/45/18 wheels and tyres in the back of mine. They were only about 1cm clear of the headlining, if you can work out the height of the tyre, should give you an idea of size.

No chance. It’s hard to fit them on the roof - really only takes two on top let alone in the back.

Not a chance, front wheel off and laying down should fit👍

Appreciate the replies! I thought I would be pushing my luck o well, my current 07’ 3 series estate is just a fraction to short I was hoping newer estates might have gained that extra room maybe not, I’m fine with sticking on roof just saves some hassle throwing them inside plus led down on top of each other I always get a bent spoke/scuffed bars etc.

Ignore the bike style but you can see how narrow the roof is and how with the ‘flush’ bars there is not much room for 3 bikes/racks.
