Before I bin off one or both of my current providers, thought I'd ask here first for any additional troubleshooting tips smile

My current ISP is John Lewis Broadband (so PlusNet). Been with them a few years now.

My current domain/mail host is Site5 in the US (they acquired the place I was using, so not a conscious choice really). Been with them more than a few years now.

All had been working OK until around October when I could no longer access my mail servers (either via Outlook or webmail). All other internet access is fine.

After much troubleshooting Site5 believed the problem to be my IP address being blacklisted. They showed me why they thought this (MXToolbox logs) and restarting the router and getting a new IP address saw it work for a brief period then stop again as the IP blacklisting caught up.

JL gave me a static IP address and all was well for a few months. But the problem is now back.

This time I can see no blacklisting. Site5 have noted they're not blocking anything. JL are now saying the same and that the problem must be my device/laptop.

Any suggestions on who to lean on the most? It feels like a JL issue (if I connect using my phone's hotspot all is well). But could logically be either end!

Have been looking at 4g broadband as JL speeds have been dropping recently, so that might "cure" that side. Does anyone have any recommendations for mail/domain hosts? (Wanted to avoid this as the last time I did it, my mail/domain was out for a couple of days while it was transferred).

Input gratefully received.

How much do you pay a year for your email hosting? I went over to Microsoft(Office) 365 & let them host it for me for £112 a year.

I use Fastmail - https://www.fastmail.com/pricing/ ($50 a year for the standard tier), and you can supply your own domain but don't need to. It also allows you to hook into Gmail etc as well and pull those addresses in (and send from them).

They also have a calendar, note storage and file storage. The Android and iOS apps are excellent, and I just use their browser interface on the desktop.

Been with them at least 5 years, no complaints at all.

Depends if it's for a business or personal but Google Domains and/or Office 365 are where I'd be looking if you want something that just works and lets you get on with life.

From how you've explained things all I know is I've only ever had issues accessing random websites that were fixed the moment I used any other Internet connection or VPN and that was with Plusnet.

Thanks all.

Will look at the options noted.
