future value/investment potential - 997S vs 1M

Hi all,

I currently have a 997S (manual) and I've been offered a PX for a 1M.
I've read tons and tons of reviews,forums, and watched almost every youtube regarding specs, etc and I'm pretty keen to go for the change, but I'm not sure about the numbers.
I'm thinking that in case the porker holds it better, I could do the swap anytime in the future, but it woulnd't be so easy if the 1M prices keep rising
Which one do you think will hold its value better?

With EVs coming in fast abs youth not really bothered by OCE you have a limited potential market. There in time will be higher and higher taxes for ICE . Clean air city zones making driving ICE into those areas unviable.

Buy which ever car you like and enjoy and can afford. Appreciation simply may never happen

I predict that the 1M will continue to hold its value better.

I guess that the 997.1 is going to follow the 996 down to £10k or so. Meanwhile the 1M seems to have survived the introduction of competition from the various M2 variants, and continues to hold strong.

There are 136,000 997.1s in the world, but only 2,700 1Ms. That's only twice as many as there are F40s! Numbers aren't the whole game, but when both have a strong reputation as drivers' cars, numbers make the difference.

Having said that, I don't necessarily see the 1M going up a lot further than it already has, but I do see 997s continuing gently downwards for another 5 years or so to £10-12k.

I also suspect (not having driven either) that the 997 is better to drive, more of a sports car.

I'd definitely take the 1M over the 997.

Out of the two it'd be the (to many 997's to make anything but the top models an investment) 1M as an investment neither because you may well lose money on both.

Ok. While I’d take the 997.1, like it or not the 997.2 is holding value very well because it avoids the reputation for bore scoring that the 997.1 has.

On that basis, I think the 997.1 will always be on the back foot. I’d say the 1M will be the better investment.

Personally I would rather have the 997 however if you are looking at it as an investment then i'm sure the 1M would be the better option

I'd rather have a 997 but if I was going to buy a car and chuck it in a barn for 20 years I'd pick the 1M
