Prusa Filament Suppliers / Comparative Alternatives?
Discussion
One of the benefits of us taking back control is that Prusa is currently not shipping to the UK.
Since getting my Prusa printer I have always used their filaments (PLA / PETG & ASA) and am kind of loathed to move away from them.
Are there any other suppliers in the UK that won't try and have our eyeballs out? Prices for PLA on Amazon are approaching £70 for 1kg
If not, does anyone have comparative back to back experience of a good alternative to prusament that they could reccomend?

prusa filament is nice.
I started with Prusa Cement, but moved away from it quite quickly.
Next I tried Spoolworks Edge. This is as nice as prusament and a bit cheaper, you get nice results.
Then I tried Real filament, which is a bit cheaper again, but not had any issues at all, so tend to stick to this now.
As a general rule I use REAL PETG for general printing. I usually buy 5kg reels at a time, virtually everything I print is in black.
I also use carbon filled PETG from PrimaSelect, but you'll need a hardened nozzle from e3d to print that as its very abrasive. Makes very strong prints though.
A good UK supplier of 3d printing stuff is 3djake or Daemon3dprint

I'm assuming that you have used these other filaments after the prusament stuff on a prusa printer?
Yes, I have a mk3S.
You have to remember though that basically filament is filament. Its not all equal but it all will work, you can liken it to car tyres. They will all work, but you get slightly different performance.
Some of my mates use the cheapest s
t they can get in bulk off ebay and it produces reasonable results 90% of the time, but you do get some irregularities occasionally.
You will have to fiddle with the settings though as it all goes down slightly differently. I can send you my setting with Real PETG if you want to use those as a base line. Are you using the PRUSA slicer?

Your analogy about filament being filament is spot on. And staying on that theme, I don't put ditchfinder tyres on my cars or bikes. Hence me looking for a UK prusament supplier or a comparable alternative.
The reason I like using it is because I can set a print away and just walk away from it and just leave it till its done knowing that I'm not going to have any printing problems. I think ive only ever had 2 failures.
Yeah I am using the prusa slicer, so if you are willing to share your settings that would be appreciated, thank you.
Usually I only get issues when I swap from the carbon back to standard PETG. I think what happens is that some of the fibres get clogged in the head, then when I swap it can get dislodged half way through the print and get globules on my print and it crashes.
If I've had PETG running for more than a couple of prints i set it off and let it run with no issues, done probably a dozen 30+hr prints. Most of my prints are circa 12hrs.
I'll PM you and send you a config file that i use for basically all my prints.
