Would you comply?

If so, how do you think they would help in an outdoor setting?

There was a photo in the paper yesterday of a park in London which was packed with people. This has probably got the mask police jittery.
But elsewhere in the country people can go outside and not be anywhere another person. It would be ridiculous to even contemplate wearing a mask for an hour walk across the moors around here.

The thing is that it's allowed to be full of people. People are very probably socially distancing - certainly IME in London that is generally well observed.

We are back to dumb-dumb MSM photographers using foreshortened shots of people in parks to pretend they are all jammed together. Mis-representation.

No.

Some context: I live in a small village, where it's really easy not to come within 10ft of someone else.

If its outside with nobody around (or very easy to socially distance), not a fking chance.

No reason not to personally, not a freeman of the land type, not anti mask just to be awkward, do not have a health condition either real or made up which causes me any issues wearing a mask, not a total dick, so yes I would comply.

Wouldn’t want to wear one driving as I wear glasses and they do tend to steam up a bit with a mask.

Outside a supermarket where people are following the same paths into and out of the store, yes, I can see there being benefit, and generally I leave my mask on until I get into my car.

Out on a walk in the countryside with no-one else around, the mask is obviously pointless and I don't wear one.

The mask is primarily there to protect others from my germs incase I am infected and asymptomatic.

Seems like common sense to me, and I hope such a broad brush of a rule is not needed.

I’d definitely comply. The cost/inconvenience of mask wearing is pretty small.

It’d be a minor source of annoyance given that I’m not going to mega busy areas (barely pass another soul on the route I go for local walks to keep me sane). But as I’m a grown-up, I’m perfectly capable of living with minor sources of annoyance.

It's all well and good while it's winter/spring. Wait for summer and temperature nearing 30c. Or does covid go on holiday then?!

I was in Germany back in September and October. Some town centres had signs at the entrance that you where them at all times everyone complied. Went to a theme park and you had to wear them on rides and in the lines again 100% complied.

I don’t see why it’s so hard for some. Even the scrotes in my city are wearing them when outside when I’m not (obviously bringing extra attention to themselves being dodgy) so it really isn’t that hard.

'cause masks have really been working haven't they? The current transmission hotspots are within the home and (possibly) supermarkets (hence there will be more focus on making sure people keep 2 metres apart - because masks don't work)

From here

So no I will not be wearing a mask outside as they don't even work inside.

We were in Spain in Oct-Nov last, masks compulsory outside, wasn't a problem. Not compulsory when exercising.

As always with this topic, the issue is what you personally define a "no big deal". If you are one of the "no biggie" group, then you are happy to comply. If you're a "I hate them with a passion" person, you won't, and perhaps don't at present.
However, I cannot imagine that there is any conclusive evidence at all that outdoor mask wearing is beneficial, since there are too many variables to conclude such a thing - temperature, proximity of people, wind speed, humidity......and so on.

Even this government must surely recognise that mandating the ridiculous undermines compliance with more sensible measures.

The other thing it stops is people wiping noses and touching surfaces.

You're throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Are they 100% effective? No.

Are they partially effective? Yes.

Does that partial effectiveness in a single instance make much of a difference. Probabaly not.

Does that partial effective in millions of instances make a difference. Undoubtedly.

The primary protection of masks comes from reducing the spread of particles from those who are infected. I.e stopping the virus getting out, rather than preventing it getting in. Its why they're worn sterile enviroments, like a surgery.

It benefits everyone if everyone wears one, even if in best case it only prevents 10% of transmissions.

This.

Obviously some people will shortly join this thread to let everyone know that wearing masks outside in any capacity will lead to humanity’s downfall and children will forget what a human face looks like, permanently damaging their development.
