Hi all,

I am creating a new set of headlight clusters for my car for various reasons. I would like some sense checking with the below.

The existing setup is as follows. Fog, Indicator, Low beam projector with single-beam Halogen H1 bulb and High beam Hella reflector unit with single-beam H7 bulb.

I am proposing the following. Fog, Indicator, and just the existing Hella reflector with a dual-beam LED H7 bulb. Hopefully this diagram might help.

My main concerns are wiring and adapters, and the LED bulbs performance / spread. This setup will be mounted to a custom made fibreglass cluster with regular adjustment capabilities and needs to pass UK MOT.

Can anyone provide some advice? Thank you!

What part of the wiring circuit are you concerned about?

Taking into consideration that LEDs draw less current than halogen bulbs

Yeah so the current wont be an issue. It is more adapting the H1 dipped connector and the H7 full beam connector to an H7 connector whilst including the ability to control the high beam / low beam functionality.

H7s are single filament

H4 LEDs are double filament

Shouldn't you be using H4s?

That makes sense. So I wouldn't be able to use double filament bulbs in my existing H7 reflector unit. Hmm thinking again then. I was thinking of using the sealed 90mm Hella bi-halogen lights but was hoping to save the £200 for them!
