I'm searching for some suitable push buttons for the steering wheel and/or dash of my Ultima (probably for indicators - once I've checked the legality of it).

I'm having great difficulty finding anything that is suitably radiused (>2.5mm), reasonably compact and without a metal stalk that would rearrange my already ugly mug

Backlighting might be cool too...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Dave - Demon Tweeks do a twin switch kit on adnodised ally support that gets sandwiched between the wheel and the boss. The switches are within thumb distance and are almost flush fitting. Cost 20 quid + VAT order code is 15NE982 made by Sparco.

Stig

But these are only push switched that work for a horn etc. What you need is a of-on on-of switch. These are available from maplins that fit the sparco steering wheel thing!. The only problem is the wring ( you will need 6 wires to work the horn and the steering as you can't use common earth. I know i tried

Cool! Thanks.

Had a rummage on the net and found some pics: www.sparcousa.com/pswheel_accessories.asp?id=335

Need to study the SVA manual() but they look like they should be legal and safe.

Got a bundle of mods on the go for the dash. Going to strip out most of the cheap and nasty warning lights and replace with LED equivalents...which should at least have consistent colours. Also have a cunning single slip ring/3 button steering wheel design. If I get time I'll probably also brew a simple intelligent dash that reuses the std. instruments (which I really like) but has max/min warnings, linear fuel gauge and some simple datalogging.
