Range Rover 2010 3.6 TD V8 HSE 5dr
Discussion
hi folks,
Experts and enthusiasts, please help... Am I being a total wholly!
Range Rover 2010 3.6 TD V8 HSE 5dr
£8k, 125,000 3 owners, full history, 12 Month warranty / 12 Month MOT, nice condition on the eye... (ranks well on Autotrader price-wise etc...)
I've read the horror stories, so I am ready for 'some' problems, but is this a particular problematic car. I know that like saying how longs a piece of string...
I guess what I am really saying is... tell me why I should buy this car because my cautious brother keeps telling me to buy something sensible and I really don't want to!!!
Would appreciate any insight...
Thanks in advance, John

Just buy it...as I did back in August as I've always wanted one.
I'd recommend one to anyone - until you've owned one you don't appreciate why they are held in such high regard.
I had a check over completed on the car by my trusted mechanic shortly after taking delivery (as I do on all my cars) + a full service and the various diff, transfer box oils changed - just for peace of mind to know everything is fresh.
= clean bill of health.
I've fitted a set of disc and pads on the front, parts were c.£180 from ECP.
I had a 4-wheel alignment carried out as the steering felt a little vague around the straight ahead - sure enough some tweaking was required.
Oh and an afternoon spent underneath with a wire brush and some cans of Waxoyl - again time well spent as a preventative measure.
No other expenditure apart from fuel so far.
Weak points seem to be -
suspension compressor - JLR in general not just L322
turbo hoses split - the 2 large diameter hoses which greet you when you open the bonnet
batteries!..again JLR seem to be particularly sensitive to voltage.
Cheers,
Chris

If it's an HSE, I assume it's a Sport rather than a proper one
Still a good car, but reviews on the 3.6 are mixed - there seem to be enough that randomly munch their turbos & take the engine with it. Most will be fine, but there are enough that it's a known thing and AFAIK, there isn't an obvious cause or indicator that it's likely.
A 4.4 full fat is a better buy
