What are the chances of UK getting the Olympics?

I think Seb and co (no pun intended) have done a great job. The decision is due tomorrow I think.

However, I think the French are always so corrupt when it comes to this kind of thing that they will have done a deal behind the scenes.

What do you reckon?

Transport links will let us down and Paris will get the games. WHich is probably better for us as we can hop over the channel to watch them instead of having the olympics rammed down our throats for the next 7 years then ballsing it up.

I sincerely hope we fail to get the games on the basis of transport. That will actually be the best possible outcome for the nation. The silliness has gone far enough Mad Ken needs getting rid of and this is the way to do it.

Since when did the Olympics become a clash of international salesmen? Was it like this in 1948 etc? Will the IOC simply buy from the best salesman? Or from the biggest backhander? Or from the country that promises to build some schools, like Tescos do?

And why is it happening in Ghana, when the main contenders are London, Paris and Madrid?

And how much is it costing to run this sideshow? It seems like a miniature version of the EU to me.

If London gets the Olympics, which I doubt, will it make this country money or cost it?

Although the host nation has always managed to win more medals then normal. We will also get some good London based sporting amenities out of it.

But then the transportation and other annyoing Livingstone schemes might make such a mess of things and bugger up the organisation that he gets the boot from office.

So some good things could come out of it.

I think you guys have it the wrong way round - if London did win, believe you me you would see significant improvement of the public transport to cope. And holding such a large gaming event like the Olympics can only do wonders for the local economy.

What gets me is this is a 'London' bid. Yet BRITISH taxpayers are paying for it.

So, how come Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish are paying for a LONDON bid for the games, yet will have to travel for hours to see any action??

Why do we want improvements in the fallback transport system for chavs and the moderately impoverished? We already have a super transport system. Its called the car. If we arrested all the greens and had them on the road building chain gang then we would really start to achieve transport normality again. Public transport sends investment elswhere.

Did you ever see the transport system in Athens before they won their bid , absolutely terrible, never stopped them winning on a promise it would improve. If transport is used as the main reason for London losing to Paris then it is a thin excuse IMHO.
The French are masters of the backhander, almost on a par with Mr 15% Arab's IMHE. They will win for no other reason than they have sold/smoozed it better than us.

If we win there will be amazing sporting facilities in east london built, unfortunately the only people living round there in 2012 will be assylum seekers and the impoverished. Not a lot in it for the tax payer. I hope we dont get it, the people of east london dont deserve such facalities.

Couldn't agree more, RedKen wants the games to cover up his total ineptitude to get anything working...that newt-loving tw@t is spending money like there's no tomorrow and he's going to get found out, as soon as London loses!!!!
