Trolley jack pads
Discussion
I received my trolley jack pads last week and got to try them out at the weekend, fitted well and did the job perfectly, can recommend.

As a currently non-Aston owner I find it remarkable that they need special pads just to be jacked them up. Why weren't they designed to be raised on ordinary jacks?
They can be. It's just the spigots on the pads ensure the car can't move off the jack as it is raised and the car "rolls" away from the lifting pointGraze

Ah good. I had visions of any non-AM dealer's jack punching through the frame or somesuch!
Can confirm the standard 2-post, four arm lift works fine. The only "concession" to lifting an Aston being a small block of wood used to make sure the lift pads don't put pressure on the sill mouldings, as the standard circular pads can be bigger than the cut-out AM providesoilit said:
Seems a good idea - but why do you need four of them - do they fix onto and stay on the car - or do they come off when you lower the jack?
The front pads are different to the rears and the rears are handed, so even if you only want to jack up one corner at a time you still need 3 pads.No they don't stay on the car.
Also worth mentioning that you should not try to use a cheap halfords style jack because they are not low enough and often have a rather vicious cup that will merrily rip a hole in the underside of your P&J. The slightly more 'upmarket' jacks have a larger flatter bed which when combined with a jacking pad spread the load more effectively.
