Old Whisky - Worth Opening?
Discussion
Teachers and Bells are fit for cleaning toilets whether they're open or not. I've never tried Haig, so can't comment.
In general though, apparently whiskey is alright for about 6 to 12 months if opened. After that the taste changes, and like someone else said if a mixer is used you won't notice the taste. It's not a bad taste, it's just a more earthy/musty taste that is noticeable if you drink it straight.
I've a bottle of Bullit Bourbon that I forgot about for a year, and it tasted earthy/musty. It was fine with coke though.

The open bottle of teachers and another of sobrano have been hoyed. On closer inspection the bells was also open so that helped clean the drains!
The Haig stays and I also uncovered a bottle of Chivas 12 yo, I am going to donate them to a mate with a nice outdoor log cabin/bar to dish out to unassuming guests!
Cheers
