Where to go from 997.2 C4S... Boxster GTS?
Discussion
Thinking about scratching the urge to move on from my manual 997.2 C4S. It’s immaculate and has been cosseted but I’m hankering after something more focussed. Don’t like turbos (the way they look) and GT3s are probably out of reach. I’m also a little tired of the age of the 997 and that I can’t drive it in winter etc. So, thoughts on moving to a manual Boxster 4.0 GTS ? I hate Caymans so no interest in those. Where have others moved on to from 997s? No need for practicality as I have an X3M Comp and Defenders etc... but manual essential and sunroof (or convertible) essential.

Why can't you drive your 997.2 C4S in winter? 4WD and a a fairly modern car so it should be fine.As for more focussed, I don't think a Boxster will cut it. Within the Porsche world you should look at Spyders, especially the 718 version with the GT chassis. Although this will be crap in winter!

Oh, it’s more that it is old and regardless, old cars deteriorate in winter with mud, slush, mulch, salt etc. As for more focussed, I don't think a Boxster will cut it. Spyder a good shout
GT3’s aren’t an option because they don’t come with a sunroof...well the later one’s don’t and you want something later than a 997, Spyder is definitely a good shout, I’d have a look at a 991.1 or .2 GTS as well....lots of them were specced with sunroof...a 2 rather than a 4 as less weight and less grip is a good thing in a sports car which has plenty of both already. Despite the 991.2 being turboshcarged lots of people on here preferred them...I’m a fan of naturally aspirated engines but the turbo engine in the 991.2 GTS is a great car.
With 911’s spec will make a big difference to how a car feels...bucket seats being the most obvious one but that is a rare option.
