Can anyone offer advice on my tacho, it is stuck on 2,000 rpm and doesnt move at all, even with the ignition off. I know on the S2 it picks up a pulse from the ignition coil to give a reading. How do I check it out electrically, or have it serviced or is it a DIY job.

Its probably got some corrosion on the shaft of the pointer. The instruments are prone to consensation and eventually it can get into the moving parts..

It can be dismantled and cleaned up but its not easy.

It's driven by a stepper motor so it could be a simple electrical fault.

Sussed it, took the front cover off of the tacho, as carefully as possible, still cracked the glass, blew any dust out and a quick spray of trusty WD 40, bingo tacho now works. Just need to source a piece of glass, Thanks for your advice.
