Best place for rewiring a classic car?
Discussion
What is the age of the car? Is it an old Lucas loom? How bad is the original wiring loom? No off-the-shelf products available?
It's quite unusual to remove and replace a whole loom, unless it's been damaged or is the car particularly special?
It's quite straightforward to upgrade an original dynamo car to an alternator without the need for a new loom - indeed one can buy 'dynamators' that look exactly like an old dynamo but have the output and functionality of an alternator. Simple wiring additions / alterations required and straightforward to convert car from +ve to -ve earth if required...
It's no small undertaking to strip out a wiring loom, re-make, modify and re-install - i.e. expensive! (if you can even find someone to do the job). Converting from dynamo to alternator with associated upgrades is run of the mill and should be within most classic garages capability for a fraction of the cost of loom replacement.
Can you give us some more info on what you're trying to do and why?

...most mainstream classic are well supported for replacement looms from the likes of Autosparks and you can request an alternator version as an option.
Using a well made replacement loom it's not too bad a job for a DIY restorer - I've done a couple of Lotus Elans and managed it fine, and being firebglass everything has two wires which makes it a little more complicated!
I too would be interested to know the car in question.
