This livery will not race on track in 2021 but is more a hint of what we can expect to see at their pre-season launch
So this is a pre-pre-season livery?MontyPythonX said:

I think it's a pointless glimpse of a livery that might never see the light of day for the sake of attracting media coverage during the out season F1.com said:

And if so, why not? Good move by Alpine imo. Certainly better than last season when they got as far as the official car launch and did the launch without the car being present at all..

I hope you're right. The metallic blue Toro Rosso cars used to look great under the lights.
Indeed! What other base colour could it be...? That's alpines trademark blue. The reason for black in pre season is traditionally to mask design details from prying eyes. Although these days with 3D depth measuring cameras, that's probably a total waste of time

The black cars we see at testing look pretty good though.
With only 3 days pre-season testing in Bahrain 2 weeks ahead of the season start I'm not sure I'd waste time and effort on a testing livery. The only reason I can think of for running the car in a pre-season livery at the test is if you are planning a big flashy 'team launch' in the gap between the test and 1st race. Flashy has not really been Renaults MO in F1 in its current works team phase.
