What's the scam here???

I have a gift card which can be used at a range of retailers. I've had trouble spending it due to the COVID situation, "ah, you can't use that online - only in store" and "you can use it but only for 1 transaction and it must be for the full £50".

No bother I thought, I'll stick it on eBay. I'm surprised at the level of interest and it's already up to £46 with a number of days to go. Do people really go to these lengths just to save literally a couple of quid? It just doesn't seem worth it.

Or am I just being very cynical in my advancing years?

PayPal. No delivery tracking number. Make a claim for non-delivery. You can't prove anything. They have already spent the card. Job done.

Especially as no signed for delivery at the moment, you might even find that the price exceeds the card value, I think you could get stuffed on this one.

Can you use it in sainsburys or similar for stamps dishwasher tablets or fuel

That’s my default thing for gift cards I get that I will forget or loose
