Lockdown and viewing a car

I am in the north of Scotland. We dont have the large selection of stuff for sale so travel to England to buy is normal/prefered due to rust.

I have seen a pickup truck which is freshly imported and not registered for UK roads yet. I wish to view it with the intention of having it delivered by truck if it is ok. I dont plan on driving it rather just turning it on and seeing it runs and not smashed up prior as its not new and does have some existing damage.

I have also seen a trailer which is 30 minutes away from said pickup which I plan to purchase while down there as I have been looking for one exactly like it for a few weeks now - trust my luck it comes on sale as we hit a lockdown.

It is a 14 hour round trip from Inverness to down near Leeds.

Where do I stand on legality as cars are ok for click and collect, are trailers? Is viewing with intention to buy ok? Obviously can bank transfer to avoid handing over notes.

To add to this, just paid a deposit on the trailer.

What’s my best bet at the moment on what to do? Shipley and see if a trucks coming up with a empty towball?

Not in England it's not. Going to 'view' a vehicle is another thing though.

Yeh I wasnt sure what the deal was either as your different opinions show.

Some websites say its ok, others say its not ok so little unsure.

If buying from trade in England, cars are click and collect only, no viewing, no test drives, paid for in full before collection (no holding deposits).

However, qualifies as a distance sale so you will have right to return for 14 days with no explanation/reason required. Check Ts & C’s on the distance sale, you will likely be responsible for return of vehicle and excess mileage if you choose to exercise that right.
