No affiliation...just a happy customer...went there today with my N430...super helpful people, a very impressive facility, palatial waiting room with TV and wifi. Ok it was instant coffee not bean to cup served up by a "customer experience operative" in an Aston branded cup, but for half main dealer rates (£65 + vat) I was ecstatically happy and they clearly know their onions

very interesting to see the early Vantage they are restoring (heavy corrosion from being near the coast)

Brackley 10mins off M40.

I still dont like the look of the new Vantage (although i think the vane grille improves it) but it makes for a very mean GT4 car.

Great family run business, with a wealth of knowledge. Can't fault them, always have something interesting in with motorsport connections.

£78 is remarkable, well done. Too far away from me unfortunately.

An AM dealer quoted me £408 (presumably inc VAT) for a two hour pre-purchase inspection, ie £204ph. Is that the normal rate?

I also thoroughly recommend DAE for Aston work. Anything I am ill equipped to do myself will go there. They even accepted my car on a Sunday morning by arrangement to Mr Appleby's home as it was the only day I could get a lift back home.
Seeing their facility, I really dont know how their hourly rate pays for the place.
They even respond to emails almost immediately, and also answer the phone when you call.

I've not had any work done by them but James was quick o reply to some emails I had sent with questions over the Nitron R1 shocks/springs. He could have sold me a set but told me they are more for track use however Nitron are close to signing off on some road R1 versions obviously with better weather protection etc.

I've used DAE for years. Cant fault them. Love the fact they are engineers. Rather than replace a full heatshield they fabricated a part for relative pennies.

Also sorted me out with some NItrons a few years back. Transformed the ride and handling. They were racing spec, but James set them to old man mode, which I am.

Firstly I have had the pleasure of meeting James Appleby from David Appleby Engineering Ltd.
What a very professional person and his knowledge about Aston Martin is world class
This year I decided I wanted to purchase an Aston Martin V12 Vantage, a 2016 model. James guided me through what I needed to look for, which was very helpful. Last month I found my dream V12 Vantage. Before I completed the purchase I had James and his team do a full inspection of the car. They did find a few things that needed attention and fixing, which the car dealership agreed to pay. I have just had the car delivered to me by James Appleby this week and I am so pleased with the car and the work that they carried out on it. Going forward, I will be taking the car to David Appleby engineering every year for servicing etc to keep the car up together. A big thank you to James and his team for looking after me. I would thoroughly recommend David Appleby Engineering to anyone that has an Aston Martin issue. Nick Percy

I understand your positive impressions of DAE.

I am in Europe, in Italy, Sardinia, I have a problem buying from DA in particular the Velocity ap.
In fact, they are the only dealers accredited by Velocity AP. However, England, as we know, is outside the EU so in addition to being twice as expensive as the American price, we Europeans also pay customs duties
I pointed out the problem to vap but not the interested
I bought the catalytic converters from topgear.co.uk much lower price.
I wanted to order the modification of the Velocity AP control unit, unfortunately I think I will have to pay twice as much to have it.
The biggest users here in the forums have no problem with the pound. We Europeans do.
DAE Do you take advantage of your position as a reseller for Europe to charge Velocity AP prices at twice the price? I have this feeling.

Velocity AP 200-cell cats are $1,895 in the USA

https://www.velocityap.com/product/aston-martin-v8...

The same cats are £2,070 from DAE

https://www.davidapplebyengineering.com/shop/produ...

$1,895 is £1,417 in GBP, but they presumably have to pay import duty, which will add nearly £300, and the ship them here, so they are not really “twice the price” are they?

And at £2,070 that price incudes 20% VAT

James was a great help to me when I was buying my V12VS that he had been looking after for the previous owner.
Knowledgeable and generous with his time!

You have to calculate that in Europe we use euros not pounds.
Also, from England you pay the same £300. It is not a European community.
My calculations.
2070, 00 Pounds are 2355 euro.
1614, 00 $ There are 1614 euro
Total savings 714, 00 . They are not twice as many, but almost as much as buying them from Velocity AP

Don't like DAE or Velocity prices where you are? Don't buy them then. Whining won't change anything.

I'm not complaining. I only wrote that we Europeans are penalized compared to non-European customers

Since there is censorship on pistonheads if I have not offended anyone and I have only made an observation.
I used topgear.co.uk, today redpants. Make an observation about price difference.
If you want to prohibit this, point it out to the administrators.
Goodbye

I'm confused - what is the $1,614 referring to?

Are you saying that VAP products are more expensive in Europe than the USA, or are you saying that your Top gear 200-cell cats were half the price of VAP?
