Dealer says there's a problem
Discussion
Long sotory short.
I bought a used car from a small car dealer (one man band) operating out of business premises. I traded my car in as part ex, and the deal was done. All of this was done at his business premises. He inspected my car and I had a quick look around the one he was selling.
Before we did the deal he told me the car came with a 1 year warranty and full breakdown cover for a year.
A day or so after we did the deal I received a message from the car dealer telling me there was a problem with the car I traded in. I told him I wasn't aware of any problems with it (I genuinely wasnt). After that I heard no more. I received the V5 for the car through the post, and notification my old car had been sold to the dealer.
It seems the dealer has got the hump, as I havent received any paperwork regarding a warranty or confirmation of any breakdown cover.
What would you do?

Contact him on monday and tell them that you are still yet to receive your covers as previously agreed and when you should expect to receive them by?. Do you have an original ad or any paperwork stating that breakdown cover, or is it something that he mentions on other vehicles he is selling?
If he mentions anything about the part exchange politely remind him that he is a professional motor trader that inspected the vehicle and agreed a price that almost certainly was well below market value. He's the professional and the due diligence is on his part and you are under no legal or moral oblation to him.
I'd like to hope its a mistake, mentioning it to a customer is bad enough, but to passively aggressively withholding parts from the deal is very bad form. Do you think he calls up BCA or manheim when he isn't happy with what he picks up at auction? Does he treathen to take his business "else where" to punish them? Good greif
Also, do you know if the covers/trade are affiliated to a either of the firms that use Yellow or Orange vans and trucks? Might be worth mentioning that you're considering contacting them because this isn't the kind of confidence, reassurance and trust you expected with a dealer that was "certified" by that particular brand...
