Hi
I'm looking for some boot/bonnet catches that work with a 'pin' on the boot/bonnet clipping in to a catch [hole] in the body that has a remote cable release. Make sense? Not the race-style catches with the pin on the body and a clip on thr boot/bonnet. It's the sort of setup that there used to be on the tailgate of a 944, but these catches are way too beefy for my needs.

I'm looking for something where the pin on the boot/bonnet is maybe no bigger in diameter than a pencil, with a similarly sized hole on the body it clips into. I've have a trawl though the usual suspects of Moss, SVC, Europa, Demon etc but haven't come up with anything. Any ideas?

That sounds like the bonnet catch that marcos used on the LM and Mantis models.

Thanks, I don't suppose there's a photo of these catches anywhere?

Your best bet for this type of bonnet/boot catch is the older type Fiesta - the one with the bonnet that hinges from the front. Aternatively go round your local scrapyard and find any small car with a bonnet that opens in this way - small French cars seem to be the best.

I have used this type of catch on my Cobra - can't remember the exact source of the bonnet catch but the boot catch is from a Mk IV Cortina ("pin" chopped about a bit).

Can't see how to upload some pictures but e-mail me and I'll send them to you.(robinthebox@tiscali.co.uk)

Thanks...I'll have a trawl round the scappies too then. I kind of guessed a 'real' bonnet catch would be to big, but then I didn't think about small cars like a fiesta.
