Hi All,

Looking to purchase a Gen 2 Vanquish in the coming months and struggling to find a definitive buyers guide, enlightening me to known faults etc.

Is it just the usual repairs on 5+ year old GT cars? Such as Suspensions/control arms.

Any owners past experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,
JJ

If you haven't already grab a copy of the definitive guide to AM by Grant - the Gen2 Vanquish is in there in some detail and there is a lot of great information on what to look out for when buying.

It's a fantastic car and many of the faults with previous AM cars have been ironed out on this Halo car pre DB11.

As with this era of V12 cars, look for damage/ excess wear to ceramic brakes as these cost a fortune to replace (Bamford Rose do some good videos on the brakes too) and any damage to ANY of the bodywork. Carbon fibre is not cheap to repair and check the splitter and everything underneath for signs of scuffing.

Also comprehensively check the ADS three stage damping works ok.

FSH naturally and I personally found the 8 speed so much a better car to drive than the 6 speed - but this is personal choice.

Apart from these I've found it to be completely reliable and the AM29 V12 is a robust thing of silky beauty.

Enjoy!

Thank you for your detailed response!

Hopefully, providing everything checks out I'll be the new owner next week. Not that I'll be able to use it much in the current climate!

Already lining up headers and secondary cat removal..

Not sure what you're looking at, but the S's are quite rare cars.

Agreed - the S is more of a monster, for me a bit just too pumped up and hard on the cars lines but certainly rarer and more exhilarating.

Good luck on the purchase, one of the last of the great line of Aston naturally aspirated V12s and just a beautiful, beautiful car to drive. For me the Vanquish Gen 2 strikes just the right balance (together with V12V and DBS) of the Gaydon era of cars with some modern(ish) technology along side that somewhat refined old school Aston grunt, poise and presence.

Don't forget to post pictures of your new pride and joy!
