2018 audi s5 purchase
Discussion
Hi guys im looking at trading in my cls350cdi amg against a 2018 audi s5 in misano red pearl. Its only done 8000 miles! It comes with virtual cockpit, privacy glass and rear camera. I was going to ask a couple of questions to owners. How reliable has it been and is there anything to look out for? Ive also heard that the fuel economy can vary from anything between 20mpg and 30mpg. Is that correct? The dealer is asking for £35995 for it but ive seen similar vehicles down south for £4000 less. Is there much room for maneouvre?

Good point- ive now heard back from that dealership who were not willing to budge enough. I like the hatchback and the way it looks. Now looking at a slightly newer car (68 plate) with only 9000 miles. Its around 3 grand cheaper too. Comes in black mmi upgrade heated seats flat bottomed steering wheel virtual cockpit and privacy glass
I had a 2018 S4 which has the same engine as the 5. It went through two thermostats in a year which were replaced under warranty. Other than that, it was spot on and I never had any other issues.
Efficiency wise, I think long term I averaged around 32mpg with most of my travel being on motorways with the cruise stuck at 70. Round town with a cold engine it was pretty crap though. On the odd jaunt up the A1 I could actually get low to mid 40s with some (quite a lot) of effort.
I'd have another one though as I did love it, although I'd likely go for an S5 like yourself.

The low mileage is bumping the price up, approved used of the same age are around £30K & a little over for more normal mileage.
I had a B9 S4 until a few months ago (same car, different suit), found it 100% reliable & had no issues at all. Thermostat appears to be an issue on some, but I've not read of any other significant headaches. I was impressed enough with the S4 that in an ideal world I would have an S5 Coupe yesterday (just need to find the funds....).

Excellent guys many thanks for the info. I bought a 2018 68 plate audi s5 with 9200 miles on the clock. It comes with privacy glass, flat bottomed wheel, black leather seats with silver contrast stitching, massage and heated memory seats virtual cockpit and reversing camera. It is in flat black but looks very well cared for. The dealer will service it before i get it, give it a full tank of fuel and it comes with an extended years audi warranty with roadside assistance. Overall pretty pleased!
Hi sorry for the late reply- im finding it to be very practical, quiet and comfy! The fuel economy isnt bad but im finding the fuel tank to be quite small! Its quick as well and makes a noce sound. Word of warning though! Dont get the audi flat black paint- it is very soft and marks very easily!!

Thanks for coming back. I only get around 300 miles out of a tank now but do so few miles at the moment that I've only filled up twice this year. Economy is pretty near the bottom of my list of requirements. From what I've seen so far, I'm favouring white with the sunroof, but that's purely been online looking.
