Secretlab Chairs - particular Omega
Discussion
With just a week left on the sale I thought I'd ask this as I know from other threads a few people at least have bought chairs from Secretlab. Question is how have you found them to be over time? Due to being a short arse and needing to be able to securely put my feet on the ground I'll be limited to the Omega model (and this is the same reason I can't go for a number of their main rivals as most those have a minimum height for men of 5'6" or 5'8" - I did do my research a couple of years back - Overclockers were very helpful for those manufacturers who did not publish).
Additionally has anyone gone for the softweave fabric? Some reviewers on YouTube suggest you can get electric chocks from this material and I'm the sort of person who can be prone to this (used to get shocks from one of my more recent cars with non-leather seats). For those with the PU 2.0 material, is there any cracking/wear - my present chair has PU leather and started to crack after just a few months.
And cheekily ... anyone got any spare recommendation vouchers they're not going to use as it looks like these can be applied to the sale prices as well
---
Quick extra - I'm only interested in views on this chair maker/model - I am too short for Noblelabs, DX Racing, etc, plus having used a HM Aeron for ~2-3 years at one company I worked for (and it being new when given to me) I know from experience I just do not get on with those.

I've no experience of those chairs, but have you thought about using a footrest? It might open up the possibility of using more chairs.

I've had my Omega for over a year now, and it's still in perfect nick - no issues whatsoever and can definitely recommend.
I've been WFH since Feb so it's used pretty much all day every day and I've had no back or posture issues. It's definitely harder than expected, but actually makes it comfortable to sit on for extended periods.
Sadly I've not got any voucher codes to share, but can otherwise give it my unreserved recommendation.

Whatever you get, make sure you get a decent returns policy attached to it.
Chairs are *very* dependent on the individual and 1,000 people loving one particular chair doesn't mean it will suit you. Even trying one for 10mins in a shop isn't really enough - you need to get one at home and try it for a week or two (distance selling regs should help here
).
(I don't have a Secretlab one...cheapo Ikea Markus here which has suited me well over the last couple of years. The suggestion of a footrest is also a good one - my OH has one. I don't need one).

Maybe watch this first then buy a proper office chair:

Discussed quite extensively on this thread:

Have to say I'm still pretty pleased with my SecretLabs purchase - but one arm is showing some signs of wear and tear - whilst the whole thing is as comfy today as it has been over the months. Still the best thing my Finance Director has done for me all year........

I got the Omega in soft weave at the beginning of lockdown. Due to a high desk, I got myself a footrest which was very good.Additionally has anyone gone for the softweave fabric? I do get some static shocks, but I think that comes down to what I'm wearing. The soft weave fabric is nice and warm, I'm not a PU leather fan.
Overall here are my impressions:
Adjustability, great, the tilt back function is very good. The lumbar cushion is a bit thick though and if you lean forward you have to keep re-positioning it. Which is annoying. The seat foam is firm, so don't expect sofa levels of softness.
One of the stand out things is the neck cushion though, the cooling gel pad is really nice.
I haven't tried without the cushions really aside from when I had a short sleep in it.
Build qualify is good and putting it together was really quick.
it is a snug fit, much more like a car seat than the Titan (my mate has one). I think whilst the sizing is a guide you could go with a Titan. If I was to buy again, I would probably go with a Titan (which I may do once we move house and my wife will get the Omega. I'm 5'7" and around 70kg, so definitely on the smaller side.
They are expensive, but well worth it.
I got mine on pre-order and it arrived 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

Both of my kids have them, one Omega pink Softweave for the 12 y/o daughter and the Titan grey Softweave for the 14 y/o son, the Titan is holding up well after 6 months of use. I did have a problem with the Omega as the stitching frayed near the bottom of the seat base and started to tear. I contacted SecretLab and submitted the photo of the issue, within 2 weeks they had sent an entire new seat base. I have to admit i was a bit nervous after looking at the reviews on customer service after i had purchased them, unfounded in my view. No complaints since and would buy from them again.

Cheers - that was very interesting. I was aware of the clone/re-branded seats though Secretlabs is not one of those. Does make me wonder what direction to go in though (if you look at the position and quantity of adjustments, and the shape of the components).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yhc6mmdJC4

For those mentioning foot rests - I have one, at home it is no use as my table is a former dining room one with wooden beams in the way, however I did use one off and on for around 10-15 years at work until I was lucky to get an adjustable table after which i never used one again - I much prefer my feat actually on the ground.
For those who have already started saying go HM - what part of had one from new for 2-3 years do you not get. With a mother who was a SRN physio and a history of back problems (though my fist slipped disk was not till further down the line) I do understand and know the importance of correctly adjusting chairs and I could NEVER get the aeron to work for me. As I mentioned in another thread, around 90% of the people where I worked liked them or had no issue with them, but around 10% of us did, which is significant and shows not every chair works for every person.
Cheers for those with SL chairs - if I do go that route it sounds like the PU 2.0 leather will be the way as I am susceptible to shocks, not helped by a liking of insulated cargo pants during the autumn/winter months, which do not help there. This video and the mixed feedback have made me wonder if it's the right direction though.
BTW when I said short arse - I'm just 5'4", having regained about a half inch I lost after my slipped disks, the second time resulting in surgery. I ended up with further double surgery to remove the disk, 'fusing' the surrounding ones to free up the damaged nerve which was always touching and so never fully recovered (the first surgery did fix the paralysis in my lower left leg but I still suffered from chronic pain, second surgery has largely cured that but I still have to take care).

Take a look at Noblechairs Hero Black Edition as well - it's basically the same chair as the Titan anyway but I really like the texture of the PU Hybrid Leather which you can't get on the Secretlab. The chair's proven to be extremely comfortable since I bought it in May and I've been WFH all the way through so it's used every day.
I saw the Gamers Nexus video posted a few links up a few days ago and they raise a number of very good points - I'm not naïve enough think my chair's the Best Thing of Ever and there's a reason why things like the Aeron regularly get consistently recommended so certainly worth the OP's consideration. I just couldn't justify £1200+ on a chair at that point, fortunately mine has proven to be a decent enough purchase though.
I'd definitely be interested to try and Aeron somehow though to see what all the fuss is about.
Edit: Just seen your post -

and a cheap Chinese one for £235:

Yes there are some minor stitching differences but I've no doubt they're all just badge-engineered as mentioned in the Gamers Nexus video. It'll come down to whether you want to pay for a name and/or a more premium finish imo...
Edit edit: Apologies, I see you're looking at the Omega (which I'm sure is just a clone of the Noblechairs Icon etc etc)... It also seems that Secretlab's 'Prime 2.0 PU' is likely similar to Noblechairs' PU Hybrid. Since they all probably come out of the same factory in China that'd be no great surprise!
Edit edit edit: Just seen per your first post you don't want Noblechairs anyway so my entire post is probably moot.
As you were, apologies for not reading fully in the first place, although my point still stands about these all being the same basic chair underneath.

I bought a SecretLabs Titan in Cookies and Cream softweave at the start of the pandemic, and it has been utterly superb. Can sit in it for 8 hours a day with no real loss of comfort - bearing in mind I'm 40 and still haven't figured out sitting without slouching I'd say thats pretty good. Easy to build, no issues with SecretLab themselves, would highly recommend one of these for anyone. We have HM Aerons in the office, I honestly can't see where the extra cash goes on over these, in fact I'd say the Titan works slightly better for me due to the extra cushion in the neck.
Haven't noticed any electric shocks to speak of, although it is on laminate flooring so not sure if that effects things.
I should still have a discount code somewhere, so if you do go ahead drop me a PM, will see what I can dig out.

Bought my son a PU Omega for his birthday last May. Great service in terms of delivery and they are solid bits of kit, well designed.
He's been absolutely hammering it because of lockdowns, home schooling etc. - I'm sure he'd sleep on it if I let him - and it looks as good as new. I have an Aeron which I much prefer because it feels less bulky and I don't like the 'racing seat' look, but as a place to sit it's very nice and I'd have no qualms buying again.
