Hi all

I'm creating some document templates and would like to add a degree of automation in, for example, I have a table at the beginning, that captures client details (name, address, job type).

How can I get it so that I can take the information from this table and have it replicate through out the document, without using find and replace?

I figure there must be some way I can define fields or similar where the field takes the information from a single source.

Does Word have a way of doing this without VBA?

O365 by the way.

Cheers

There used to be a way of creating an autocorrect for a random spelling mistake. Eg repacked qqq with w Smith limited. Haven't tried it in years though. Probably word 97

Use either standard or custom document properties, then insert as a field.

Thanks!

Does this mean, to change the Field content, I'll have to modify the document property each time?

There are many ways of doing this is Word...form fields, VBA, fillin fields, mail merge, bookmark & cross-reference.

Bookmark & cross-reference is probably the easiest to accomplish.

Basically, you create one area for the source text, bookmark it, and then reference that bookmark for all the other places you need it. Then you simply refresh is when you change the source text.

Have a look at this: https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/content_contr...

I use it all the time now and it's really handy. Essentially it's doing the same as the document properties suggestion, but with a lot more flexibility
