Hi all, spent some time with the new car over the weekend and noticed the parcelshelf pull tab has kind of disintegrated with age (2006 car) and generally the shelf has been bleached to a blueish colour. Question is the tab replaceable and does anyone know of the shelfs being recovered? I'm resigning myself to the fact I might be picking up a newer one from AstonBits

Strangely, the tab on mine had also deteriorated when I had bought mine, although the shelf itself was fine. I bought a strip of the exact tape and was able (or at least the other half was) to sew it to the ends of the original. I've a feeling the shelf does actually come apart but I did not take it that far.

I still have plenty of the tape left over, so if you do want some I can post to you.

Get some leather dye - cheap and easy to DIY. Plenty of videos online on how to dye leather using a kit.

If your parcel shelf matches your interior leather then get the exact dye and use the rest for touching up as needed.

If you do get a new one from Astonbits, do note that the design of the parcel shelf changed on later cars.

Jonny my parcel shelf is fabric/carpet kinda stuff not leather, both little parcel shelf behind seats and foldy one that lifts with tail gate...

I can vouch the shelf is coming apart, it's two parts glued together. I re-glued them some time ago, pretty easy job.

I need to have a look to see how much good material is on the tab to see if something new could be stitched on. I hadn't thought about dying the material although it is not leather? I had noticed it had gone a bit crisp so need to give it a good brush to see what material is left will take on a dye. I have seen car carpet dye, not sure if that is appropriate on a parcel shelf.

Hi I have a 2006 vantage with a slightly faded parcel shelf too. Just got used to it over the years. Your post got me thinking.

I found this video showing how to recolour carpet, which is what the shelf is covered in.

Looks very straightforward. Think I'll give it a go. Nothing else to do in lockdownsmile
