Hell Let Loose (PC)
Discussion
I've played a few games like this over the years, two that stand out are Squad for modern combat, and Post Scriptum which is WW2 again. The 'combat sim' genre can be good when you're in the thick of the action, or you have someone dedicated to driving troops around so when you die you get back to the action fairly quickly, but all too often I've had your experience, which is spend 10mins trudging to some fighting; spending five minutes wondering where it actually is; then getting killed meaning you're back to trudging across the map again.
I go through phases of playing these, tempted to get back into one soon, just to fire up Walking Simulator again.

I've been playing this a lot recently.
It's a great game, especially when you consider it is still Early Access, but the learning curve can be a bit brutal, especially as nothing about the game mechanics is particularly well explained in game.
Once you're over the initial hump, it does get a lot easier but you'll still have to contend with a really short time to kill and the odd occasion of getting killed from out of no where.
This game really does benefit from having and using a mic, and finding good servers (avoid the the ones set up by the game developer and look for private ones run by clans).
Feel free to drop me a PM with your steam username and I can add you, more than happy to play some rounds and explain stuff.
