Hello.

So full disclosure, I have registered to this site as I have a specific question that has stumped me for many months and so I'm hoping someone can help me on here.

I know what it's like when a newbie comes crashing into a forum, all guns blazing and so I'm sorry if I've broken all sorts of PH etiquette. Please feel free to redirect me to where I should have posted this query (if at all).

I need a replacement push button for the automatic transmission stick on my MK4 Vauxhall Astra. My one pops out so regularly in all sorts of situations that it has become pretty dangerous.

I originally bought one from the below ebay seller who subsequently told me that they didn't actually have any I stock as Vauxhall no longer supplied them and so they cancelled my order.

Is my last resort breaker yards or can anyone point me in the direction of a shop who does sell them?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-G-ZAFIRA...

Thanks all!

Have you tried the main dealer? Just give them your reg and they'll find the correct part in no time. Order over the phone, wait for delivery.

Edit - just re read your post. Main dealer don't have them. Ignore me!

Maybe worth dropping the below an email -

https://vaux-spares.co.uk/about-us.html - tried these guys? Or asked on here? https://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/forums/sma...

Chances are, yours won't be the first to suffer.

Yes because I’m sure MDMA is quite happy wasting his time to direct you to a dodgy website for the specific part you require. Take the advice given as you’ll find the forum very useful for things like this. Don’t dismiss straightaway.

TBF, I wouldnt use the site linked, but then I have a thing about websites that provide zero company information other than a contact page and email.....

I might be new to this forum, but I'm not new to the internet!! That site is a scam.

I appreciate the help, I genuinely do. I'll check the other links that people have sent and see if I have any luck.

Cheers

Looks like its not stocked by anyone as a new part to buy that I could find, leaves you with going to a scrap yard, a breakers service or someone dismantling a car on ebay

I know my neighbour uses these guys for his Vauxhall stuff https://www.megavaux.co.uk/

This should be a safe bet, buy with PayPal (they do accept PayPal), can get your money back if there's a problem

This looked really promising but unfortunately the diagram selector tool on their site isn't working and the push button isn't listed in the parts list! That was the closest I've come for a long time though. Thanks for trying!

Do you know what's wrong with the existing part? If it's just worn/broken plastic I'm wondering whether it may be possible to plastic weld repair the existing part, or 3d print a replacement.
