Good timing as last Vulcan flew in 2015 when the AM Vulcan was launched.

I used to work on 558 well before 2015 but not had the pleasure of the other.

The most beautiful plane ever built, closely followed by the 747.

How is a 747 more beautiful than a Spitfire?

I realise I'm going off topic and most rational people agree that the Spitfire is more beautiful than any war machine is entitled to be, with a sound-track to die for.

But:-
RAF - "What can we do with this pile of wood, a couple of surplus Merlins, some Brownings, a few of these Hispano cannons we found at the back of a cupboard and this old Molins 57mm, 6-pounder quick-loading anti-tank gun?"
de Havilland - "Hold my beer..."

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Mosquito, aka "Wooden Wonder", aka "The Flying Matchbox", the single most versatile aircraft in WWII (as long as you don't take it to the tropics)

Fighter? - check (and able to out-run many contemporary single-engined machines)
Fighter-bomber? - check
Night fighter? - check
High altitude photo-reconnaissance? - check
Low-level precision bomber? - check
Pathfinder bomber? - check
Tank buster? - check
Train buster? - check
Coastal patrol? - check
Anti-submarine warfare? - check

It's pretty too.

"But what has this to do with an Aston Martin forum?" I hear you ask. Errrr...it has a couple of really nice-sounding V12's? biggrin

You can have your thread back now getmecoat
